Thanksgiving 2023
The Cost of a Thanksgiving Meal
With inflation at an all time high, supply chain issues, rising food prices, and a handful of other factors, a Thanksgiving feast is more expensive than it has ever been, and for some, it can be unimaginable. Grocery store prices have soared since the pandemic, which means to cook an average Thanksgiving meal for a family can be very costly.

A 16 pound turkey with a price of $2.28 a pound will cost $36.48 – this is an average weight and an average price of a turkey when not on sale. And the cost of an entire Thanksgiving meal for a famWhen ily of 8-10 people can cost a little over $64.00 (and that’s on a tight budget). Now these statistics are from a national average, but for most, a person can spend well over $100.00 for a Thanksgiving meal, and that’s for a family of four and the national statistics does not take into account all the ingredients that go into making a special dish, the different sides, and most importantly, the desert! Cinnamon and brown sugar for candied yams, cheese and milk for macaroni and cheese, butter which goes into everything! These things are costly!

This holiday is important because it is a day where we celebrate gratitude, which is something we don’t do enough of. It is also a time, which for most, involves reconnecting with families but the financial cost can affect people’s ability to fully engage in the spirit of gratitude and family connection.

Thanksgiving is a time when we wish for everyone to smile, be happy and create everlasting memories. With your contribution, you can make that time special and possible for a family to cook their own feast of memories.
We leave you with these two questions:
1- How much does YOUR Thanksgiving meal cost?
2- Why is Thanksgiving special for you?
If everyone reaches one, this world would be a better place.
